QUICK BREAKFAST RECIPE WITH BREAD UPMA

Today I am going to show you a very simple and quick recipe, using Bread loaf and a few easily available ingredients. You can use white bread or brown bread.
The name of this dish is BREAD UPMA.
Bread upma is made by cutting the bread into small pieces and then garnishing it with onions, green chilies or red chilly powder salt, and a few other herbs and spices to make a very soft but tasty breakfast.
This dish is very light and you can have it with EVENING TEA, OR AS A LIGHT BREAKFAST FOR KIDS.
This is a very tasty and delicious dish, which is soft basically but has an added crunch of onions, and a garnish of dals.
You might have used BREAD in many forms, like bread -butter, bread -jam or sauce, bread cutlets, bread sandwiches, bread toast, bread malpuas, bread Dahi-vada, etc,

The ingredients used in this recipe are as follows.:-

INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR MAKING BREAD UPMA

  1. Bread pieces -6-8 Bread slices cut into small cubes.
  2. Onions-3 medium, finely sliced
  3. Green chilies-4-5 finely chopped
  4. Freshly grated coconut-3-4 tablespoons
  5. Curry leaves-8-10 leaves finely cut
  6. Ginger gratings-1 inch piece
  7. Fresh coriander leaves-2 tablespoons roughly chopped.
  8. lemon-1 small sized
  9. Oil-2 tablespoons
  10. Chana dal-1 tablespoon
  11. Urad dal- 1 tablespoon
  12. Mustard seeds-1 teaspoon
  13. Cumin seeds-1 teaspoon
  14. Red chilly powder-1 teaspoon
  15. Table salt-1 teaspoon
  16. Turmeric powder-1/2 teaspoon

PREPARATIONS NEEDED FOR BREAD UPMA

  • To cut the cubes of Bread, pile up 3-4 slices of bread pieces.
  • No need to remove the brown outer covering.

  • First, cut it in one direction and then in another direction as shown in the image.

  • Now peel and cut the onions into thin slices.
  • Chop, coriander leaves, curry leaves, and Green chilies.
  • Grate the measured quantity of fresh coconut.
  • Cut the lime into half and remove the seed.
  • Keep all the garnishing ingredients ready.

METHOD OF MAKING BREAD UPMA

  • Keep a kadhai on a low flame to heat.
  • Now add oil to it, and let it get heated.
  • Add cumin and mustard seeds to it. Let it crackle.

  • Now add Chana and Urad dal and let it cook till it gets a golden color and gets crispy.

  • Add the chopped green chilies, curry leaves, and grated ginger.

  • Saute for a few seconds, and then add cut onions.

  • Combine all of them adding turmeric powder.

  • Saute till the onions are transparent and then add salt and Red chilly powder.

  • Now is the time to add cut BREAD PIECES and combine all of them nicely light handedly.

  • Cover and keep for a minute.
