Friends, you all know that moong dal (green gram dal) is considered the best protein among all dals, and hence it is the best choice for us to include in our diet.

Do you know that moong dal has about 25 grams of protein /100 grams of raw dal.

This is an excellent, easily digestible plant-based protein. When taken in whole form, with skin on, or in sprouted form, it becomes a rich source of vitamins ( A, C, and B vitamins)and minerals (Iron, Potassium, Magnesium, and zinc)too.

Because of the high nutrition, it is good for the heart, aids digestion, helps to manage weight, controls blood sugar, increases immunity, improves skinand is also antioxidant and anti-inflammatory and has anti-cancer properties.

These properties make s it a nutritious addition to any diet. morover moong is suitable for both sweet and savoury dishes.

Normally, dosa is made out of rice and urad dal, but today we will be using moong dal as the basic ingredient and a little rice flour, just to make the dosa crispy.

LET US HAVE A LOOK AT THE INGREDIENTS OF MOONG DOSA

  • : moong dal-1 cup soaked
  • Rice- 1/4 rth cup
  • Grated fresh coconut-1 /4 rth cup.
  • Pepper powder-1 level teaspoon
  • Cumin powder-1 teaspoon.
  • pink salt-1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric-1/2 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida-1 peanut size. ginger-1 inch piece
  • green chilies-3-5 numbers.
  • Curry leaves-2 springs
  • Fresh coriander leaves, a handful.

PREPARATIONS TO BE DONE FOR MOONG DOSA.:-

SOAKING FOR MOONG DOSA:-

  • Take 1 cup of moong dal with or without skin, wash 3- 4 times, and soak for 3-4 hours.

GRINDING OF MOONG DAL FOR DOSA:-

  • Take a mixer jar for grinding.
  • Add washed dal, and all the ingredients you had measured and taken.

Grind to a coarse batter, and pour into a bowl.

(You can use water if needed, and grind to a slightly thick, pouring-consistency batter.)

Keep it covered till you make a yummy chutney.

MAKING OF YUMMY PEANUT CHUTNEY:-

Ingredients needed for the chutney:-

  • Fresh coconut-1 cup
  • peanuts or groundnuts-1/2 cup
  • Roasted grams-1/2 cup
  • Fresh green chilies-3-4 numbers.
  • Ginger-2-inch piece (mango ginger)
  • Mint leaves- handful.
  • Fresh coriander leaves- handful
  • Curry leaves-2 springs
  • Salt- 1 level teaspoon or to taste
  • Lemon juice- of 1 small lime.

CHUTNEY GRINDING:-

  • Add all these ingredients to the chutney grinding jar.

  • Grind adding a little water to make a coarse coconut chutney.

FOR TEMPERING:-(TADKA)

  • Take oil in a tadaka pan and heat. Add mustard seeds, hing, Urad dal, and curry leaves.
  • Pour it on the chutney and mix while serving.

MAKING OF MOONG DOSA:-

  • To make crispy dosa, heat the tawa.
  • Apply oil with a brush.
  • Wipe the tawa with a wet cloth to remove excess oil and cool it a bit.
  • Now take a ladleful of batter and put it in the center of the tawa and spread it in a circular motion, from the center to the outside.

  • Now cover the pan with a transparent glass plate, so that the Roasting is visible.

  • After a minute, remove the lid and flip on the other side if done.

  • Thus, you get a crispy, healthy, and nutritious protein-rich Moong dosa.
  • Serve hot from the pan to the plate with a dash of butter and chutney
