NAVARATHRI FESTIVAL is going on and people in different parts of India celebrate it in different ways.
It is called the festival of dolls, and people arrange c lay and wooden dolls, which usually narrate mythological stories
Many varieties of fried snacks and sweets are made and distributed among relatives and friends, during their visits. In south India, it is a special moment for small girls, who are dressed up ethnically and are eager to visit relatives and friends.
The sweets are different types of burfi and laddo, plain and spicy chakli, sweet and spicy shakkar paras, etc.
This moong dal chakli is a deep-fried spicy snack, made by boiling the moong dal and mashing it with RICE FLOUR, along with a few spices and salt adding Butter to it for crispiness. This flour is turned into a semi-soft dough and then put in a mold to form chakli, which in turn is deep-fried to make YUMMY SPICY MOONG DAL CHAKLI.
INGREDIENTS FOR MAKING MOONG DAL CHAKLI:-

- 1/2 cup of moong dal
- 2 cups of Rice flour
- 3 tablespoon-Butter
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 and1/2 teaspoons of Red chilly powder
- 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon of white sesame seeds
- 1 small peanut-sized asafoetida or Hing
- 400 ml of any cooking oil for deep frying

Instructions for making moong dal chakli
Preparations are to be done beforehand for making moong dal chakli
- First measure the dal, clean, wash, and put it in a pressure cooker.
add about 1 and a half cups of water.

- Close the lid, and let it cook for 3-4 whistles on medium flame.

- After it gets cool a bit, mash it with a spoon to a fine paste.

- Take a big plate and add sieved rice flour to it.
- Add butter and a tablespoon of oil and combine them well.

- To test whether the amount of fat added is correct or not press some quantity of flour in your fist and see if it doesn’t break.

- Add salt, red chilly powder, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, and hing.
- Now add the mashed dal to the flour and start mixing.

- Now adding very little water at a time, make a semi-soft dough.

- Cover and keep for 10 mts.
Molding and frying the moong dal chakli
- Take the mold and smear the oil inside it with the help of a brush.
- make a few logs of the dough to fit in the mold as shown above.

- Heat oil in a frying pan.

- Make chakli on the strainer (ladle), and slowly slip it into the hot oil.

- Leave for a few seconds to fry and then flip.

- when both sides get fried and become crisp, remove them from the oil on the paper towel.

A VERY CRISPY, YUMMY, SPICY, DELICIOUS, AND TASTY MOONG DAL CHAKLI IS READY TO ENJOY.
