- PURIFYING THE SUGAR SYRUP.
- GETTING THE MOLDS READY
- CONVERTING THE SYRUP IN SUCH A WAY, THAT IT TAKES THE SHAPE OF A MOLD
INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE SUGAR IDOLS
- Sugar-2 measures
- Water -1 and 1/2 measure.
- Milk 1/4 cup
- Curds-1/4 cup
METHOD OF MAKING SUGAR SYRUP FOR SUGAR IDOLS
- Soak the sugar in water for 2 hours. (this makes the syrup making faster}
- Now keep the sugar water in a pan on low flame to boil.
- When the syrup starts boiling add about 1/8 cup of milk. (or 1/2 of what you had kept).
- You will see that a few precipitates of dirt start floating on the surface.
- let it continue till 2 mts, and then strain through a sieve (fine),
- Again keep the strained syrup on the flame and when it starts boiling add curds,(1/2 of what you had kept).
- This time also the dirt precipitates float on the surface.
- After 2 mts strain again,
- Repeat this process two more times with the leftover milk and curd alternatively
- This time you can use an additional piece of thin cotton cloth, on the strainer.
- FINALLY, YOU SEE A CLEAN AND CLEAR SUGAR SYRUP.
- Keep this syrup on the lowest flame to fasten the cooking process while making the Idol.
GETTING THE MOLD READY TO USE FOR SUGAR IDOLS
- Molds are usually made of wood.
- So you have to wash and soak the Idols in water for about 2 hours and remove the excess water.
- While you cook the syrup for Idol, keep ready the molds, with tight Rubberbands. (as shown in the image)
- Keep it on a low flame and when it starts boiling, start stirring the liquid.
- The liquid starts boiling continuously with lots of froth on it and so you had to stir non-stop and from time to time try to settle the froth,
- When you lift the syrup it should be as thick as honey.
- Now put off the stove and stir, you will see that the syrup is getting whiter and thicker.
- Immediately pour into the mold,(when still in pouring consistency)
- In a few mts, the molds are ready to open.
