SANDWICH- A HEALTHY QUICK BREAKFAST

Friends, do you want to make something new for Breakfast?

Are you looking for a healthy and quick snack, to make within 10 -15 mts?
Then there is one for you.
YES IT IS A HEALTHY SANDWICH (WITH A TWIST)
You need a few slices of Bread, (brown or anyone available), a few tomatoes and onions with a few herbs and spices, along with 4-5 tablespoons of semolina, with curds.
You can also use leftover Dosa Batter to make this Snack.
I will be showing both ways to make it.
1)To make this Tasty Snack, we will have to have a few bread slices. (Brown Bread is the healthier version)
2)Secondly, you need some batter for binding.
3)Then comes the making of filling stuff.
But, friends if you follow my instructions, you can really make it fast.
1)Take wheat bread of any size according to the number of Sandwiches you want to make.
2)Let us make the Batter now (for the outer covering).

INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR THE BATTER TO MAKE SANDWICH

  1. Semolina(fine sooji or rawa)-1 cup
  2. Curds-1/2 cup
  3. Water-1 cup
  4. Black pepper powder-3/4 teaspoon
  5. Salt-1 teaspoon
METHOD OF MAKING  BATTER FOR SANDWICHES
  • Take a mixing bowl.
  • Add semolina, curds, salt, and pepper to it.

  • Now with the help of a spoon or whisk. make a flowing consistency (lump less) batter using water.

  • Do not add a full quantity of water at once.

  • Cover and keep aside for 5 mts.

3)Let us see what we need for filling.
   we can use many vegetables such as carrots, cabbage, peas, potatoes, etc;
   Here, I have used very common vegetable, which is usually available in every home.

INGREDIENTS FOR MAKING THE FILLING OF SANDWICH

  1. Tomatoes-3 numbers
  2. Onion-3 medium size
  3. Green chilly-1-2
  4. Coriander leaves-a handful
  5. Curry leaves-6-8 in numbers
  6. Ginger-1 inch piece
  7. Red chilly powder-1 teaspoon
  8. Salt-3/4 teaspoon
  9. Oil-1 tablespoon
  10. Cumin seeds-1 teaspoon
  11. Mustard seeds-1 teaspoon
  12. Turmeric powder- 3/4 teaspoon
  13. Fenugreek seeds-1/2 teaspoon
  14. Capsicum-1 is small.(optional)
PREPARATIONS TO BE DONE:
  • Chop the Tomatoes, Capsicum, Onions, fresh Coriander leaves, Green chilies, Curry leaves, and grated Ginger pieces.

  • Keep all the herbs and spices ready with Salt.

STUFF PREPARATION FOR SANDWICH

  • Keep a frying pan on low flame and add Oil to it.
  • When Oil gets heated, add cumin, mustard, turmeric, and fenugreek seeds.
  • Saute for a few seconds and now add Green Chilies. grated Ginger, Curry leaves, and Capsicum pieces.

  • After one minute, add cut Onions.

  • Also, add Red chilly powder and Salt.

  • Mix nicely and saute till the onions are soft and transparent.
  • Now add cut Tomatoes,

  • No need to cook more after adding tomatoes. (few seconds are enough)
  • The stuff for the Sandwich is ready,
ROASTING OF SANDWICHES
Roasting Sandwiches can be done in many ways. I shall show you a few of them.
For the roasting sandwiches, you can use an ordinary Dosa pan, Grill pan, or even a Sandwich maker(electric).
Here I am using a Grilled Tawa,(it leaves golden impressions on the Sandwich which looks attractive).
we will be using the following:( while roasting Sandwiches)

1) Semolina batter.
2) filling stuff (tomato, onion, capsicum stuff)
3) Unsalted Butter
4) Wheat Sandwich Bread ( 8-10 slices)
5) Fermented Dosa Batter.
METHOD:
  • Take a Grilled Tawa and heat it on a low flame

  • Apply Butter on the Tawa.

  • Apply a thin layer of the Semolina batter on the bread slices as shown.

  • Now put them on the grilled Tawa, (the batter side should go down)
  • Now put some filling on the top side.

  •  cover it again with the semolina batter.

  • Let it roast for 1 minute.

  • Turn it upside down, and apply some Butter, on top and sides of the Sandwich.

Note: The roasting process should be on low heat with proper Buttering to get a crispier sandwich.

A HEALTHY, QUICK, TASTY, AND STOMACH-FILLING SANDWICH IS READY.
EAT HOT WITH TOMATO KETCHUP OR MINT CHUTNEY.
 
2) METHOD OF MAKING SANDWICHES USING- DOSA BATTER
  • Keep a grilled Tawa on the flame to heat. Smear Butter.

  • Take the Dosa batter on a plate, about 1-2 ladle full.

  • Dip the Slice of Bread so that the Batter coats on both sides. (flipping it)

  • Now put this Slice on the Tawa, after greasing Tawa with Butter.

  • Let it roast to golden brown color.
  • Flip it and repeat the same procedure.
  • Apply some more Butter, while you flip.

  • Now after removing the tawa, put the filling, cover it with the other roasted Sandwich, and serve it Hot.

THE SANDWICH WITH A NEW TWIST IS READY TO RELISH.
NOTE:- If you wish, you can boil a big potato, mash it, and add instead of tomato.
For a sour taste, add lime juice or Dry mango powder. (this type of filling will be best for making the sandwich in an electric Sandwich maker, to get a very crispy snack).
This is a very quick and novel idea, for making a yummy sandwich, instead of eating, Bread Butter, or Bread Jam.
