- Onions-10 -12 medium-sized, peeled
- Tamarind-1 big lime size (soaked and pulp extracted)
- Garlic-10-15 cloves
- Red chilly powder-2 teaspoons
- Salt-1.5 teaspoons
- Turmeric-1 teaspoon
- Fenugreek (methi) powder-3/4 teaspoon (roasted)
- Mustard powder-3/4 tea spoon (lightly roasted)
- Oil 3-4 tablespoons (any)
- White vinegar-2 tablespoon
- Sodium benzoate-2 pinch (optional)
PREPARATION NEEDED FOR MAKING DELICIOUS ONION CHUTNEY
- Peel the onions and put them in a mixer or grate to make a paste.
- Peel the Garlic cloves. (can crush or grind them with the onions)
- Soak the tamarind in water(hot) and extract the pulp.
- Dry roast mustard and fenugreek seeds in a pan and cool to powder it.
METHOD OF MAKING SPICY ONION CHUTNEY
- Heat a pan and put oil.
- Now put the grated or pureed onion in it.
- Now add turmeric powder to it.
- Saute for a minute and then add Red chilly powder, salt, and powder mustard-methi seeds.
- Now combine all of them and saute till it thickens and start leaving the pan.
- Saute for 1 more minute till the oil present in the onion chutney starts oozing out.
- Put off the flame.
- Now add vinegar to it and mix.
- Store the chutney in a sterilized dry airtight glass bottle to lost longer.
