ONION CHUTNEY (STORABLE)

HELLO FRIENDS,
Today I am going to show you a very-very tasty, spicy, and delicious onion chutney, which is very simple and easy to make.
The beauty of this Chutney is, that it can be stored for a long time and can be consumed as we use pickles or jam any time anywhere.
Friends as we make Pickles and store them for a long time using the seasonal Lime and Raw Mango, in the same way, we can use Onions with some Oil, Salt, and Spices to make yummy Spicy Onion Chutney.
This can be a Substitute or Accompaniment with Dosa, chapatis, Pooris, or even Hot Rice.

Let us first see the ingredients needed.
INGREDIENTS:

  1. Onions-10 -12 medium-sized, peeled
  2. Tamarind-1 big lime size (soaked and pulp extracted)
  3. Garlic-10-15 cloves
  4. Red chilly powder-2 teaspoons
  5. Salt-1.5 teaspoons
  6. Turmeric-1 teaspoon
  7. Fenugreek (methi) powder-3/4 teaspoon (roasted)
  8. Mustard powder-3/4 tea spoon (lightly roasted)
  9. Oil 3-4 tablespoons (any)
  10. White vinegar-2 tablespoon
  11. Sodium benzoate-2 pinch (optional)

PREPARATION NEEDED FOR MAKING DELICIOUS ONION CHUTNEY

  1. Peel the onions and put them in a mixer or grate to make a paste.
  2. Peel the Garlic cloves. (can crush or grind them with the onions)
  3. Soak the tamarind in water(hot) and extract the pulp.
  4. Dry roast mustard and fenugreek seeds in a pan and cool to powder it.

METHOD OF MAKING SPICY ONION CHUTNEY

  • Heat a pan and put oil.

  • Now put the grated or pureed onion in it.

  • Now add turmeric powder to it.

  • Saute for a minute and then add Red chilly powder, salt, and powder mustard-methi seeds.

  • Now combine all of them and saute till it thickens and start leaving the pan.

  • Saute for 1 more minute till the oil present in the onion chutney starts oozing out.

  • Put off the flame.
  • Now add vinegar to it and mix.

  • Store the chutney in a sterilized dry airtight glass bottle to lost longer.
