INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE RAW PAPAYA SWEET AND SOUR CURRY
- Raw papaya medium sized-1 number
- Water-to cook 400 ml
- Tamarind-1/2 lemon size
- Jaggery 1 tablespoon
- Curry masala -4 tablespoons (given in the description box as Gojju powder or gravy mix in chutney…..)
- Green chilly-1 or 2 in number
- Curry leaves-8-10 in numbers
- Coriander leaves-a handful
- Oil-1 tablespoon
- Mustard seeds-3/4 teaspoon
- Asfoetida (hing)-1 pinch.
- Turmeric (haldi)-3/4 teaspoon
- Table salt-1 teaspoon
PREPARATIONS NEEDED TO MAKE RAW PAPAYA SWEET AND SOUR CURRY
- Take raw papaya, wash it, and remove sap (a whitish liquid that flows as soon as it is plucked).
- Peel the raw papaya and cut them, remove seeds if any, and cut them into 1-inch pieces.
- Soak Tamarind in water to extract the pulpy juice.
- Slit the Green chilies.
- Wash and chop the green coriander leaves.
- Wash the curry leaves.
- Take a frying pan. Heat it on a low flame.
- Add oil to the pan and when heated add mustard seeds.
- Let it crackle, now add green chilies and curry leaves.
- when done add turmeric and cut papaya pieces and mix them.
- Add salt and saute for a few seconds.
- Take about 4 tablespoons of curry powder (Gojju mix).
- Dissolve it in 1/2 cup of water and put it in a pan and mix.
- Now put 1 glass of water and let it boil for about 4-5 Mts.
- At this stage check for the taste, for salt, sourness, and sweetness. (you can adjust)
- Transfer to a serving bowl and sprinkle the chopped green coriander leaves on top
