APPLE JAM
APPLE JAM IS THE EASIEST, TASTIEST, AND HEALTHIEST AMONG ALL  JAMS.
DELICIOUS, CRUNCHY, AND JUICY APPLES ARE RICH IN FIBRE, VITAMIN C, CALCIUM AND VERY GOOD ANTIOXIDENTS.
So using Apple for making JAM IS A GOOD CHOICE. APPLE HAS PECTIN IN IT WHICH GIVES A GOOD TEXTURE TO THE JAM.
The very look of jam is appealing and can be given to children with BREAD, BUN, CHAPATHI ETC. It can also be used as a topping on CAKES AND MUFFINS.
 Making APPLE JAM is very easy, needs very few ingredients, and can be made very fast
APPLE JAM IS A RICH AMBER-COLOURED JAM WITH A LITTLE SOUR TASTE OF LIME WHICH MAKES IT YUMMY.
APPLE JAM  is an accompaniment with BREAD, AS BUTTER, AND TOMATO SAUCE OR KETCHUP FOR A QUICK BREAKFAST.

INGREDIENTS FOR MAKING APPLE JAM

  1. Apple-350 grams
  2. Sugar-1/2 cup
  3. Water-1/2 cup
  4. Lemon-1 small or citric acid-1 pinch.
  5. Food colors (yellow or orange) are optional.

PREPARATION NEEDED FOR MAKING APPLE JAM

  • Select good and fresh apples, wash, peel, and cut into small pieces discarding the center part and seeds.
  • Squeeze the juice of a lemon and keep it ready.

METHOD OF MAKING APPLE JAM

  • Take a thick bottom pan and heat on a low flame.
  • Add cut Apple pieces to it and add 1/2 cup water.

  • You can cover and cook for about 8-10 mts or till the pieces are soft.

  • Now with a masher mash the cooked apples nicely.

  • Add 1/2 cup sugar to it and stir.

  • You will see that sugar dissolves and makes the jam watery in consistency.

KEEP ON STIRRING OR ELSE IT WILL STICK TO THE BOTTOM AND BURN
  • After a few mts, the jam starts thickening.
  • Continue till the jam starts forming a lump and no water content is seen on the sides of the pan.

  • TO TEST PUT JAM ON A PLATE, THE JAM DOES NOT MOVE BUT STICKS TO THE PLATE.

  • This means that jam is done. Put off the flame.
  • When it cools completely add lime juice to it.

  • You can add food color at this stage.
  • But my choice is I avoid food colors as far as possible.

NOW YUMMY, TASTY, DELICIOUS AND HEALTHY HOMEMADE APPLE JAM IS READY.
SERVE WITH BREAD, BUN, CHAPATHI ETC. KIDS WILL DEMAND WITH EVERY DISH.
Note: 1)  Store when fully cooled in a sterilized glass jar. and keep in a cool place.
2)  You can store it for 2-3 months without spoiling.
