PROTEIN-RICH DAL DUMPLINGS MADE OUT OF A COMBINATION OF 3 DALS, NAMED
AS NUCHHINUNDE. (KANNADA NAME) is my today’s recipe. Yes, it is a Karnataka Steam Delight. This is a very Soft, Tasty, Spicy, and Healthy dish, which can be taken as a Breakfast by all age groups.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR MAKING NUCHHINUNDE
- Chana dal-1/2 cup
- Tuar dal-1/2 cup
- Moong dal-1/4 cup
- Fresh coconut-1/2 cup
- Dil leaves-1 a big bunch
- Green chilies-8-10 in numbers
- Ginger-1 inch piece
- Turmeric powder-1/2 teaspoon
- Asafoetida-1 peanut size
- Fresh lemon-1 medium
- Water -to wash and soak
- Oil.-to grease the plate
PREPARATIONS NEEDED FOR MAKING NUCHHINUNDE
- Firstly; Wash all the dals separately 2-3 times and soak them in different bowls and soak them adding 2 -3 times of water for 3 hours.
- Grate fresh coconut and keep it ready.
- Wash and chop Dil leaves, coriander leaves, curry leaves, and green chilies finely.
- Grate ginger and squeeze 1 medium size lemon.
- Now strain water from the dal and put it in a mixer grinder or food processor to grind a little coarsely.
- Take a mixing bowl, and add ground dal to it.

- Now add grated Coconut, chopped Dil leaves, curry leaves, and coriander leaves.
- Add 1 teaspoon salt, Asafoetida (hing), Turmeric powder, and grated coconut.
- Lastly, add lemon juice and combine all of them nicely with a spatula or hand.
- Now keep a steamer or idly maker with water in the bottom (for steaming).
- Taking a plate with holes or idly plates will also serve the purpose.
- Now smear oil on the plate or you can use pieces of plantain leaf.
- Take about a small lemon size dal mix and make dumplings, and arrange them on the plate kept for steaming.
- Cover and steam for 15 minutes and it is done.
