GROUND NUT CHUTNEY

I will be showing you the recipe for yet another type of yummy chutney.. Yes, GROUND NUT CHUTNEY.
 
GROUNDNUTS ARE ALSO CALLED PEA NUTS. THEY ARE LOADED WITH PROTEINS, HEALTHY FATS, CALCIUM, PHOSPHORUS, IRON, FIBRE, VITAMIN B, AND ANTI -OXIDENTS.
After noticing the nutritional facts, everyone would like to include GROUND NUTS in their diet.
It can be included in the diet in a number of ways, among them this is one.

let us see the ingredients that we need to make Ground nut chutney

  1. Ground nuts-1 cup
  2. Onion-1 big
  3. Red chilies-6-8 in numbers
  4. Curry leaves-10-15 in number
  5. Ginger- 1-inch piece
  6. Garlic-5 -7 cloves
  7. Tamarind- 1 small lemon size
  8. Table salt-3/4 tea spoon or according to taste

PREPARATION NEEDED FOR GROUND NUT CHUTNEY

  1. Cut the onion into small pieces.
  2. Wash and cut the ginger roughly.
  3. Peel and keep 5-7 cloves of garlic.
  4. Wash and keep the curry leaves ready.
  5. Remove the top of the red chilies and keep them.
  6. Keep a frying pan on a low flame on the stove.
  7. When hot add little oil and add groundnuts, roast till they change color and aroma.
  8. Remove on a plate and to the same pan add little oil. Add red chilies and roast.
  9. Put cut onions, tamarind, and curry leaves into the pan and roast till the onions are soft.
  10. Keep all the ingredients cool.

NOW IT IS READY FOR GRINDING
Put all in a mixer jar and grind to make chutney.

Transfer to a serving bowl.

INGREDIENTS FOR GARNISHING GROUND NUT CHUTNEY

  1. Oil- 1.5 tablespoon
  2. Mustard seeds- 3/4 teaspoon
  3. Asafoetida or Hing-1/4 tea spoon
  4. Urad dal -1 teaspoon
  5. Curry leaves-few(8-10)

METHOD OF MAKING GROUNDNUT CHUTNEY

  • Take a small fry pan, and heat it.
  • Put 1 tablespoon of oil.
  • When hot add mustard seeds and allow it to crackle.
  • Now put urad dal and allow it to become golden brown.
  • Now add curry leaves. (break with hand )Remove from flame.
  • Now add hing powder.
  • PUT THIS GARNISH ON GROUNDNUT CHUTNEY

yummy chutney is ready to serve with dosa (previous post)  
NOTE; No need to add coconut as groundnuts have enough fat in them.
Fresh ground nuts can also be used for chutney. (no need to roast them)It has less fat and more of milk in it giving a sweet taste.
