This is Palak Fritters or Pakoda. This is all time favorite, no doubt.
This dish is so simple to make.
It can be made very easily with the ingredients readily available in your kitchen.
You can make different types of fritters using different types of vegetables.
Palak is one of them.
Let us start and have a look at the ingredients.

INGREDIENTS needed for palak fritters

  1. Fresh palak leaves-1big bunch
  2. Gram flour (besan)-1 cup (200gms)
  3. Rice flour -1/2 cup
  4.  red chilly powder-1 teaspoon or more(according to taste.)
  5. Fennel seeds(saunf)-1 teaspoon
  6. Carom seeds(ajwain)-1 teaspoon
  7. Roasted cumin powder-1 teaspoon
  8. Turmeric powder-1/2 teaspoon
  9. Table salt-1 level teaspoon(palak needs less salt)
  10. Water-1/2 cup or even less.

METHOD of making batter for the palak fritters 

  1. Take a mixing bowl.
  2. Add all ingredients except palak and mix nicely.
  3. Start adding water slowly and mix with a whisk or a spatula, so that no lumps remain.
  4. Be sure it is a thick paste.

  • Take fresh palak and wash it, wipe it, or spread it so that extra water dries.
  • Now chop it roughly into small strips.
  • Now add roughly chopped palak and mix with the paste.
  • Pakoda batter is ready.

  • METHOD OF FRYING PALAK FRITTERS

  1. Now heat a deep fry pan.
  2. Add enough oil to dip the pakoda completely while frying.
  3. When it is pretty hot drop the batter in hot oil with the help of a small spoon.
  4. little at a time till the surface of the oil is 80% covered.

  • After frying for a few seconds, move it so that the other sides also get cooked.

LET IT GET GOLDEN IN COLOR. Put it on a paper towel before serving to remove extra oil if any

NOTE; SERVE FROM PAN TO PLATE TO RELISH TO THE MAXIMUM.
PALAK-It is the richest source of Calcium, Iron, Vitamin C, and Fibre.
